After graduation I became involved in a number of things. I worked several odd jobs and briefly attended State Technical Institute before I began my law enforcement career. Also I became a champion Golden Gloves and AAU boxer as well as a model on Mr. Harry Winfield' s show, Swing Shift. I was called Mr. Showcase. In 1972, I became a Memphis police officer. During my time with the police dept. I became very active in athletics: running track and playing football and softball. I took part in the Tenn. Police Olympics, the World Police Games and the International Police Games. I was once timed at 10.7 in the 100 meters and 21.4 in the 200 meters in the Tn. Games. I finally returned to college. I attended Shelby State and Memphis State for awhile and finally I graduated from Tusculum College with a BS degree in Management. I completed my 40 year police career in 2012 at the rank of Lt. Colonel. At the request of the Police Director I returned to work part time as a background investigator on 1-2-19.
I remember receiving a whipping from Mr. Springer. It rivaled the one I received from Sheriff at Porter.
My favorite teachers at BTW were Poppa Lowe, Mrs. Nichols, Mrs. Burrows, Mrs. Freeman, Nat D. Williams, Mr. Boone, Mr. Martin, Mrs. Griffin and Mr. Little.
